Mark who?

Born in Bangor, Maine, Mark has recently returned to his home state after crisscrossing the country, and the globe, in search of opportunity and enlightenment. His interests and influences range from advanced study in literature and philosophy, a life-long passion for architecture, and travels to far away places such as Asia, South America and Europe.

Mark began doing freelance design work in 1998 when a friend familiar with his artwork asked him to serve as a creative consultant for an Internet start-up. The following year he began photographing the historic architecture of Dallas, Texas, a project that would continue for three years and lead to a number of exhibitions.

Earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Utah in 1993 and a Master's degree from St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland, in 1997, Mark has since done additional graduate work in ancient and modern philosophy, taught English as a second language, and worked as an information architect for a leading Web consultancy.

Mark's move back to Maine with his family coincided with his decision to devote himself to pursuing a fulltime career in art and design. Since arriving in Portland in 2003, Mark has produced marketing materials for the University of Southern Maine and the Portland branch of the NAACP, interned in the Publications department of the Portland Museum of Art, and served as Art Director for USM's arts and literature journal, Words & Images.
